1. The Cotton Plantation Record and Account Book, No. 1 Suitable for a Force of 40 hands, or under, By Thomas Affleck. Fifth Edition. New Orleans: Published by B.M. Norman, 14 Camp Street 1854. A daily record of passing events on Point Breeze Plantation beginning September 1, 1857 and ending around May15, 1858. Contains much day to day information, including lists of slaves (mentioned only by first name) and the amounts of cotton picked for each day of the week. Records how many hands picking for each day, how many sick, how many sewing. Lists of slaves and their clothing allowances. One page with a short list of births and deaths of "negroes on plantation". Also a page of doctor visits, which is completely blank. Mentions T.H. Lewis as Overseer. Approximately 104 pp. In tattered condition, lacking front cover, title page chipped and pieces missing (not affecting text). Some pages of text at end are loose. Lacking 2/3 of p.17 and two leaves (pp23-26) all of which had no manuscript information. 9"x14". Rare. 2. 1805 Inventory of the Goods Chattles and Credits of Zachariah Janson Late Deceased...No place mentioned. An estate inventory that starts with 3 slaves (Ephrim, Jane, and Peg with their respective ages, and values, as well as a 1/3 interest in a "Negro Boy Named John). 4pp opened and displayed under heavy plastic sheet.
