The Works of William Hogarth From the Original Plates Restored by James Heath...London: Printed for Baldwin and Cradock...[1822]. The last edition of Hogarth's works using the original (restored) plates. Complete with 116 plates on woven paper as called for (some are two to a page). Includes a biography of Hogarth and an explanation of the plates, by John Nichols, Esq. FSA. Extra large folio.The inner top of the front end sheet, blank, and fronts with small 2" tear (mendable). Frontis with foxing. Title page with offset from frontis, a six inch tear into the lower margin (not even near the text and mendable), and a longitudinal fold from top to bottom that has a central split. This fold continues into the next 4 pp, but with no splits. Plate 9 with small bite off the bottom corner, not affecting the plate. There are two small tears and folds to plates 92/93, not affecting the plates. All plates with some degree of foxing (mild to moderate). The original 3/4 leather binding is complete, but the front cover is detached. Marbled bedsheets and pastedowns. Leather spine with wear and roughness to spine tips. Corners bumped with loss of leather. Edgewear and scratches to covers. See photos.

Items can be picked up in person or by a shipper at 14 Business Park Drive - Unit 5, Branford, CT - BY CONFIRMED APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please contact the gallery 24 hours in advance to make an appointment. Pickup can be scheduled for Monday through Friday between 9am - 3pm beginning the Monday after the date of the auction. Please note that all first-time buyers that wish to pick items up in person must pay with cash.

All purchases must be picked up from our location within 14 days, no exceptions. Purchased items that have been paid for but not picked up or shipped from our auction facility within 14 days of the auction will be stored at a rate of $10 per day per lot for furniture and larger items and $5 per day per lot for smaller items. A moving fee of $25 going into storage and $25 going out of storage will be added. Storage fees and late fees must be paid before items are released. There are no exceptions.
Items not picked up within 60 days of the auction date will be considered in default and become the property of New England Auctions.
