Rare and possibly unique pictorial quilt. Made by Jane Ann Bidwell (1799-1865), Jersey City, New Jersey. Applique with trapunto. The four distinct quadrants beginning at the outer corners depicting trees with fruit, foliage and birds. Flowering vines terminate with fruit-filled baskets and cornucopias. Interspersed are many appliqued birds, owl, roosters, dogs and berries executed in trapunto. Very good condition with bright colors. Some light staining. Circa 1840. 79" x 90".
