Pair of pastel portraits. Henry Holmes (1776-1845) and Dorcas Freeman (1789-1813) of Boston. Henry became a wealthy hardware merchant with the firm of Homes, Homer, & Bonner. He was a founding member of Park Street Church, a founder of the MA Bible Society and founder of the Evangelical Tract Society. Henry and Dorcas Freeman (Homes) married 1808. Henry - Frame: H 29-1/2" W 23-1/2". Stretcher: H 24" W 18". Dorcas - Frame: H 28-1/2" W 22-1/2". Stretcher: H 23-1/8" W 17". Condition: Portrait of Henry Holmes is mounted to canvas wrapped around stretcher bars. Overall good condition. Portrait of Dorcas Freeman is unmounted. Paper attached to stretcher bars.
