Civil War Archive: Lt. Col. Llewellyn Davis POW. Llewellyn Davis rose to the rank of Lt. Colonel during the Civil War. Company D 7th and 187th Ohio Volunteers. This fascinating archive was collected by his wife Charlotte. Davis was captured by the Confederates in May,1864 .There are several letters from the prison in Columbia (Camp Sorghum?) and a nearby hospital (Roper's) to his wife ( including some envelopes). Includes a 12 page account of his time of capture in what appears to be his own hand. Another hand-written single sheet accounts some atrocities he observed while there. There are numerous post-war documents including his death notice. Other documents of the War period and after. All housed in a protective H 18' W 16" portfolio. Condition: Excellent.
