A group of autographs of artists associated with the Surrealist and Symbolist movements. 1) Paul Eulard. (1895-1952) A founder of the Surrealist Movement. A small autograph letter in French signed "Paul" and dated October 16, 1936, to Ray Man (American painter and photographer) "We're sad without you. Everything seems to be missing." 2) Andre Breton (1896-1966) French writer and poet, author of the first Surrealist Manifesto of 1924. Small autograph letter in French on blue paper and dated October 3, 1933. This letter is also to Ray Man, thanking him for a photo. Translation included for both letters. 3) Odilon Redon (1840-1916) French artist, Symbolist movement, and his work was a precursor to Surrealism. Calling card, unsigned, sending regrets that he has become ill at the last minute. 4) G. F. Watts (1817-1904) English painter and sculptor associated with the Symbolist movement. Small autograph letter dated April 16, 1885. 1 pp of a small bifolium. Fine signature. 5) Andre Gide. (1869-1951) Author. Nobel Prize 1947. Small autograph letter signed and dated October 30,1937, in French. singe fold, tiny stains at left margin. 6) Surrealism. Catalogue de L'exposition. Galerie des Editions la Boetie. A catalog for the exposition from December 1945-January 1946. unpaginated. Notes from Eulard, Breton, Nouge, etc. Illustration on the cover is Magritte by Le Voil (1945). Largest H 9" W 6". Catalog H 7-5/8" W 5-3/4". Condition: All are in fine condition. Some folds and light smudges on letters, catalog with light soiling on covers and expected wear from handling.
