A collection of autograph letters, signed, including Arthur Conan Doyle, Sir Walter Scott, Wilkie Collins(3), Thomas DeQuincey, and one clipped signature of Robert Browning. Arthur Conan Doyle on his Hindhead stationary. No date. Declining an invitation, as he will be in Scotland. In a PS he says, "It is a duty to do anything to make Irishmen pull together..." Fine full signature. Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832) ALS inviting his cousin William to dinner. 1826. 1pp with integral address leaf. Wax seal is is intact. Evidence of removal from a scrap book. Fine full signature. William Wilkie Collins (1824-1889) Author and friend of Dickens. Three autograph letters signed to Mr. and Mrs. Lehmann dated 1862, 1880, and 1886. Two with original envelopes, one envelope is signed WC. Thomas DeQuincey (1785-1859) ALS with integral address to his publisher J. Hessey containing a vivid account of his journey from London to Ambleside. 2pp (bifolium) New Years Day 1822, just a few months after his Confessions of an English Opium Eater was published. An interesting letter. He states,"In the trunk left behind are all my papers: if it is lost, I am ruined for life." Tape repair at fold. Trimmed at bottom, clipping the bottom of the y in his signature. Robert Browning (1812-1889) Poet. Clipped signature "ever truly yours, Robert Browning" Pasted to a larger sheet.
