Alex Gross (b. 1968), 'Decay of an Angel'. Oil on canvas. Depicts an Asian woman in traditional dress, one breast exposed, cradling a puppy in her arms. Behind her is a cityscape and expansive sky. One seagull flies above. Signed by artist in LR corner, 'Gross after Goyo, 4/04'. American, 2004.

Alex Gross received a BFA with honors from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, in 1990. Since then, he has been a successful gallery artist and illustrator.  Alex taught at his Alma Mater from 1994 until 2005, and was a recipient of two faculty grants there. A recipient of the prestigious Artists Fellowship from the Japan Foundation in 2000, Alex spent two months traveling throughout Japan, researching and collecting a wide variety of Japanese Fine and Commercial art.  Part of his collection was compiled and published by Taschen under the title Japanese Beauties in 2004.

Frame: H 66 in. W 49 in. 

Canvas: H 65 in. W 48 in. 

Condition: Minor imperfections, light edge wear. No restoration noted.

Arrangement and costs of shipping are the responsibility of the buyer. 
New England Auctions does not ship or arrange shipping. 
All shipping is outsourced. All buyers and shippers must come prepared with appropriate packing materials and help for heavy items.  Our staff will not be available to help move heavy items. If payment is made by check, items will be held 7 business days before an item is released for shipping.   
Items can be picked up in person or by a shipper at 14 Business Park Drive - Unit 5, Branford, CT - BY CONFIRMED APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please contact the gallery 24 hours in advance to make an appointment. Pickup can be scheduled for Monday through Friday between 9am - 3pm beginning the Monday after the date of the auction. Please note that all first-time buyers that wish to pick items up in person must pay with cash.

All purchases must be picked up from our location within 14 days, no exceptions. Purchased items that have been paid for but not picked up or shipped from our auction facility within 14 days of the auction will be stored at a rate of $10 per day per lot for furniture and larger items and $5 per day per lot for smaller items. A moving fee of $25 going into storage and $25 going out of storage will be added. Storage fees and late fees must be paid before items are released. There are no exceptions.

 


Items not picked up within 60 days of the auction date will be considered in default and become the property of New England Auctions.
