Mears...M DCC XVIII.   Book II with separate title page dated 1720 (Third Edition Corrected). Book III with separate title page dated 1718. Bound with The Gentleman and Gardener's Kalendar...with Directions for the Making and Ordering Hop-Grounds. By Richard Bradley, F.R.S. To which is added, The Design of a Green-House...London: Printed for W. Mears...MDCCXVIII. All titles printed in red and black. Publisher's catalog at the end of all but one book. Frontis to Book I and Kalendar. Copperplate engravings throughout, some folding. Appears complete. 8vo. Binding rebacked and corners restored. Endsheets renewed in period style Dutch marbling.     1770. The Useful Family Herbal: Or, An Account of all those English Plants, Which are remarkable for their Virtues...Illustrated with Figures of the most useful English Plants...By John Hill, M.D. The Third Edition. London...MDCCLXX. With the publisher's advertisement frontis. 404 pp 8vo. Contains 8 copperplate engravings of common herbs, collected at the beginning of the work. Original binding in sheep. Original spine label intact. Front cover is essentially detatched. Normal wear and foxing.    1807 The Botanic Garden. A Poem. In Two Parts...[Erasmus Darwin]...The Second American Edition. New York ...1807. Main title and titles to each book are present. 21 fine engravings (with normal darkening/foxing/offset), including "Selection of the Strata". Large Bookseller's label pasted to inside front cover for Shakspear's Head, An Antiquarian "Book Shop" where Old Books Are Bought and Sold...Cor. Fayette and St. Paul Streets, Under the Mansion House, Balto. 278 & 144 pp. 8vo. Original full (flame) calf binding in fine condition. Gilt spine decorations and original spine label intact. Scarce.

All shipping is outsourced. All buyers and shippers must come prepared with appropriate packing materials and help for heavy items.  Our staff will not be available to help move heavy items. If payment is made by check, items will be held 7 business days before an item is released for shipping.   
Items can be picked up in person or by a shipper at 14 Business Park Drive - Unit 5, Branford, CT - BY CONFIRMED APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please contact the gallery 24 hours in advance to make an appointment. Pickup can be scheduled for Monday through Friday between 9am - 3pm beginning the Monday after the date of the auction. Please note that all first-time buyers that wish to pick items up in person must pay with cash.

All purchases must be picked up from our location within 14 days, no exceptions. Purchased items that have been paid for but not picked up or shipped from our auction facility within 14 days of the auction will be stored at a rate of $10 per day per lot for furniture and larger items and $5 per day per lot for smaller items. A moving fee of $25 going into storage and $25 going out of storage will be added. Storage fees and late fees must be paid before items are released. There are no exceptions.

 


Items not picked up within 60 days of the auction date will be considered in default and become the property of New England Auctions.
