The Thomas Bull Chippendale Carved and Figured Mahogany Tilt-Top Birdcage Tea Table, New York, Circa 1770. H 27-3/4". Dia of top 31-1/2". The circular top tilting and revolving above a birdcage support , the top of the standard retaining its "Peg", the baluster turned standard below raised on Cabriole legs ending in claw and ball feet. Retains its original finish, as well as the original brass spring-fitted latch securing the underside and original peg securing the top of the base to the birdcage. Old repair to lower shaft where legs attach. See images. Bears the incised inscription on the underside of the top near the cleat with the inscription which lists the table's descent in the family from the original owner Thomas Bull to his descendants.
