Needlework Sampler. This large and beautifully executed sampler was worked by Charlotte Giberson in 1818, under the tutelage of Madam Pawling in Marietta, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Stars, bells, trees, and floral imagery as well as wildlife and domestic animals. There is a small domestic scene with chairs, a table, a floral arrangement, and a dog. A woman holding a shepherd's crook. Pennsylvania. Dated 1818. This sampler is accompanied by several booklets of Giberson Geneology. Frame: H 25-1/2 W 20-3/4". Sight: H 20-1/4" W 26".
