Large silver mounted scrimshaw tusk. Highly engraved; from top UNION Eagle with spread wings, holding an anchor in its claws, brass studs surrounding entire tip of tooth. Below MERCURY, a whaling vessel, on right side "God Bless these United States'' 1862. On the left side "Long Life to Whalers-Greasy Luck''. Reverse side from top star, "Our Brave Whalemen" , Liberty depicted on cloud with floral elements, holding wreath with ribbon saying HERO. Surrounding her "êN GOD WE TRUST"; "LIBERTY" engraved below. Whaling scene below "After its Life", floral element below, silver base with decorative motif. Silver is hallmarked. Condition: Fine original condition. H 10" W 3-1/2" D 3". D bottom 3-7/8".
