Rare Stenciled New England table mat. This stencil painted pot of flowers was probably intended as a decorative table mat. It measures 9 1/4" long x 8 5/8" wide and is professionally mounted on a stretcher that is 11 1/4" x 12". It is signed on the bottom Irena Foater who was probably the proud maker but might also have been the recipient. There is a small right angle tear in the central flower that shows in the thumbnail. There are no other condition issues. Based largely upon the plaid fabric used for the binding, I date this to about 1870; New England origin. US shipping $25 Courtesy of Stella Rubin StellaRubin.com
