Portrait of a lady. Attributed to Henry Walton. Oil on canvas. inscribed Boynton on back. American, circa 1840. Period, probably original frame. Condition: Excellent condition. Inspected under UV light. Minor in-painting. Frame H 32" W 26-1/4" Canvas H 27" W 22". He worked portraits in oils and watercolors and did watercolors of Henry Boynton and his wife Emeline Boynton in 1843 which are owned by the Fenimore Art Museum. Many of the Boyntons are buried in the same Mclean Cemetery so there was quite a few of them living within 20 miles of Walton's Ithaca,NY, home in a number of small townships in Tompkins County.
