Fine quality miniature portrait of Matthew Henry (1662-1714). Henry was a nonconformist minister and author. He is best known for his six volume commentary on the Old and New Testaments. This portrait in undoubtedly an early 19th century commemorative portrait probably in recognition of 100 year anniversary of his death. Engraved on verso. H 3-1/2".
