Folk art portrait of a man with book. Oil on canvas. Hard pine stretcher. American, probably southern, circa 1835. Original frame but repainted. Canvas H35" W 29". Framed size 40-1/2" 34-1/2". Condition: Small old puncture repair. Inspected under UV light. No restoration noted. Some paint loss as visible in images.
