Grouping of five 1/6 plate daguerreotype portraits with male subjects. Included are two portraits of seated young men, a daguerreotype of a portrait painting of a man, a standing portrait of a young boy in colonial-looking attire (blue tinted tablecloth), and lastly, an interesting (possibly occupational) image of a man seated and writing in a journal. Affixed to the backside of the daguerreotype plate is an advertisement 'From T. B. Sage, Book Keeper. Courier Office.' Four of the five images are in full cases; one is in a half case. All images are under glass, mat, and preserver. Circa 1850.

Cases: H 3-3/4 in. W 3-1/4 in.

Mat Openings: H 2-3/4 in. W 2-1/4 in.

Condition: Some tarnishing and imperfections to mats and plates, which include surface scratches and haloing. Preserver around the boy in hat split in one corner. Please examine photos for greater detail on each piece.

Arrangement and costs of shipping are the responsibility of the buyer. 
New England Auctions does not ship or arrange shipping. 
All shipping is outsourced. All buyers and shippers must come prepared with appropriate packing materials and help for heavy items.  Our staff will not be available to help move heavy items. If payment is made by check, items will be held 7 business days before an item is released for shipping.   
Items can be picked up in person or by a shipper at 14 Business Park Drive - Unit 5, Branford, CT - BY CONFIRMED APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please contact the gallery 24 hours in advance to make an appointment. Pickup can be scheduled for Monday through Friday between 9am - 3pm beginning the Monday after the date of the auction. Please note that all first-time buyers that wish to pick items up in person must pay with cash.

All purchases must be picked up from our location within 14 days, no exceptions. Purchased items that have been paid for but not picked up or shipped from our auction facility within 14 days of the auction will be stored at a rate of $10 per day per lot for furniture and larger items and $5 per day per lot for smaller items. A moving fee of $25 going into storage and $25 going out of storage will be added. Storage fees and late fees must be paid before items are released. There are no exceptions.

 


Items not picked up within 60 days of the auction date will be considered in default and become the property of New England Auctions.
