Sewing box. American, circa 1830. Freehand, stencil and transfer decoration. Lid with fishing scene in center, floral elements at top and bottom border, rabbits on left and right borders. On front edge of the lid with eye in center with cloud, shield, L ruler, cornucopia, on bottom from left, hummingbird with floral elements, center eagle with olive branch, WATER PROOF backwards within wreath shape, to right tree . Right side repeat of eagle with WATER PROOF, flanked by two carousel type shapes. Back side blank. Left side center stone house, wagon wheel and figure, to right branch with leaves. Inside, one main compartment with three small compartments oriented vertically on left side.
