Buckingham, Swope & Co. Fine Cigars advertising mirror, c. 1870s. The Baltimore, MD firm of Buckingham, Swope & Co. gave a tobacconist this mirror as a trade stimulator to advertise their products. The nineteen small convex mirrors embedded in the glass of the larger mirror are designed to multiply the likeness of a passersby, catching the would-be customerÕs eye with images of himself. Nickel-plated frame with tin backing with original hanging hardware. A rare and early advertising mirror with a great subject. Condition: Very good antique condition with slight loss of silvering in small spots on the mirror and small scratches to the glass. Looks great on the wall. Measurements 11.5 " diameter, 1/2 " deep.
