Lot consists of 15 volumes comprising part of the Library of Samual M. Todd of New Orleans, Louisiana. This lot includes two sets of The History of Freemasonry by R. F. Gould (the 6 volume 1884 first edition, and a 4 volume set from 1889, with an odd volume (#1) of an 1885 edition. All 4to. Also included are 4 copies of The History of Freemasonry and Concordant Orders, Written by a Board of Editors, editions of 1895, 1897, and 2 from 1908. The four are a small 4to.The Gould first printing of 6 volumes is bound in 3/4 sheep with marbled covers and end sheets. All edges marbled. Spines are decorated in gilt with 4 small compartments and one large compartment. Bindings are slightly rubbed and bumped with age related minor soiling, staining, loss of leather (as sheep bindings often show), and fading from sunlight, but very sound and attractive. All covers firmly attached. Displays very well. The 4 volume clothbound set is in very good shape. Red/brown embossed cloth with gilt front cover decorations and spines, show little to no evidence of sun fade. Both sets are internally complete and quite clean. The four editions of The History...With Concordant Orders, all have significant spine issues with splitting, tears, and loss, but appear complete.

All shipping is outsourced. All buyers and shippers must come prepared with appropriate packing materials and help for heavy items. Our staff will not be available to help move heavy items. If payment is made by check, items will be held 7 business days before an item is released for shipping.
Items can be picked up in person or by a shipper at 14 Business Park Drive - Unit 5, Branford, CT - BY CONFIRMED APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please contact the gallery 24 hours in advance to make an appointment. Pickup can be scheduled for Monday through Friday between 9am - 3pm beginning the Monday after the date of the auction. Please note that all first-time buyers that wish to pick items up in person must pay with cash.

All purchases must be picked up from our location within 14 days, no exceptions. Purchased items that have been paid for but not picked up or shipped from our auction facility within 14 days of the auction will be stored at a rate of $10 per day per lot for furniture and larger items and $5 per day per lot for smaller items. A moving fee of $25 going into storage and $25 going out of storage will be added. Storage fees and late fees must be paid before items are released. There are no exceptions.
Items not picked up within 60 days of the auction date will be considered in default and become the property of New England Auctions.
