Nice lot of Americana. Mid-19th to early 20th century, to include:

Louisa May Alcott. Aunt Jo's Scrap Bag. Volume 2. Shawl-Straps (Volume 1 preceded the publication of this volume). Boston. Roberts Brothers. 1873. First Printing. 226 pp, with 6pp ads at the end. Lovely green cloth binding, with bright gilt spine decoration. A Fine Copy. Frank Moore. Songs and Ballads of the American Revolution. New York. Appleton. 1856. 8vo. 396pp. Brown cloth, blind stamped. Frontis and engraved title page. Repair to spine. Very good condition. Godey's Lady's Book. Philadelphia. 1849. 470 pp. Bound from the monthly parts in 3/4 leather with leather name plate on front cover "Nancy B Johnson". Tape "repair" to back cover. Seems complete, but NOT collated. Some signatures pulled with rough edges. Many engraved plates, some in color, some printed on colored paper, some patterns. Good condition.   Lowell Mason. The Modern Psalmist. Second Edition. Boston Wilkins & Carter. 1840. Oblong book with blue paper cover and leather spine, containing "A Collection of Church Music". 352 pp. Very Good condition, with expected wear from years of use.   I. B. Woodbury. The Dulcimer: of the New York Collection of Sacred Music...A Concise Elementary Course...Adapted to the Capacities of Beginners...Boston: Reynolds & Co. 1850 Presumed First Edition. 352 pp. Oblong book with tan paper cover and leather spine. Spine has loss at top and bottom, front hinge with splits, but holding. Good condition for it's age and use.   1833. The Yankee. The Farmer's Almanack for...1833....account of the Comet of November 1832. By Thomas Spofford. Boston and New York [1832]. Complete. Very Good condition.  Three volumes of the Old Farmer's Almanac By Robert B. Thomas. All Boston. 1902, 1905, 1927. Complete and in very good condition.   Paul Laurence Dunbar. Li'l Gal. Photographs by Leigh R. Miner. Decorations by Margaret Armstrong. New York. Dodd, Mead, and Co. 1904. First Printing thus. A Poem written in the dialect of an African American slave from the South, to his Love. 124 pp. 8vo. Full green cloth with signed Margaret Armstrong decorations to front cover and spine. Some wear and stains. Text and photos are near pristine. Remarkably stunning photographs. Very Good condition.  James Whitcomb Riley. An Idyll of the Farm. The Passing of the Backhouse. A small pamphlet, with no publishing information. The poem is an ode to the "privy", told as only Riley could compose. Perfect condition. Comes with a small price list for The Philadelphia Ice Cream Company, 150 Tremont Street, Boston. Telephone No. 1060. Perfect.  Edward Everet Hale. Birthday Edition. The Man Without a Country. New York. The Outlook Company. 1902. Beautifully bound in vellum with red ribbons. Done in an edition of only 80 copies printed on Imperial Japan paper and SIGNED by Hale. This is copy # 38. Fine Condition.

All shipping is outsourced. All buyers and shippers must come prepared with appropriate packing materials and help for heavy items.  Our staff will not be available to help move heavy items. If payment is made by check, items will be held 7 business days before an item is released for shipping.   
Items can be picked up in person or by a shipper at 14 Business Park Drive - Unit 5, Branford, CT - BY CONFIRMED APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please contact the gallery 24 hours in advance to make an appointment. Pickup can be scheduled for Monday through Friday between 9am - 3pm beginning the Monday after the date of the auction. Please note that all first-time buyers that wish to pick items up in person must pay with cash.

All purchases must be picked up from our location within 14 days, no exceptions. Purchased items that have been paid for but not picked up or shipped from our auction facility within 14 days of the auction will be stored at a rate of $10 per day per lot for furniture and larger items and $5 per day per lot for smaller items. A moving fee of $25 going into storage and $25 going out of storage will be added. Storage fees and late fees must be paid before items are released. There are no exceptions.

 


Items not picked up within 60 days of the auction date will be considered in default and become the property of New England Auctions.
