Rare American 18th century miniature portrait of a child. Oil on canvas applied to original wood panel. Original inscription on the back identified the sitter Jon Ward, Age 2 years. Oct 9 , 1749. Trenton, NJ. Brass frame is hand engraved and quite early. Painting H 4-1/2" W 3-1/2" Frame H 5-1/2" W 4-1/2".
