Cabinet card of Eugene Berry, displaying his grossly deformed feet (elephantitus?). The card is from Obermuller and Son, New-York. 2 cabinet cards of an un-named patient. In one card he is wearing four prosthetic devices (arms and legs). In the other he is seated in a chair and his devices are displayed next to him. The cards are from Obermuller and Son, New-York. One carte d'visite of a young boy in a chair. He is displaying his birth defects: one hand and one leg. The card is from Irving J Gross & Co...Boston. 4 post cards (unused) of various birth defects. 1 post card from Stuttgart, Germany, 1915 showing a surgical team around a patient with a serious foot wound on display. The card is addressed to Willy Klingler, Jr. 4 other medical related photos, probably used in medical or neurological text books (early 20th century). One photograph of a hand showing the top half of the pinky finger blackened, as if it was frostbitten or gangrenous. One real photo post card of an unnamed man whose genitalia have been removed. One real photo post card of a naked person standing outside in front of a brick wall. This person appears to be a hermaphrodite. The card has three chips in the margins, not affecting the photo. One collection of 5 photographs taken at Kings College Hospital, June 14, 1940. One is of a naked man being held up by at least two assistants (unseen except for their hands). The man has had his eyes and genitalia colored out of the photo. The remaining four photographs are of his female genitalia. These are held in a small brown paper envelope with the patient's and doctor's names, date, and hospital (K.C.). 1 photo of a male showing an enlarged testicle "before operation 10/1/31. U.S.N. Hospital San Diego Cal Orchidectomy performed Results entirely satisfactory..." (H 5-1/2" W 3-1/2") 1 photo of a male with a greatly enlarged testicle ca. 1910-1930. (H 4" W 3") 1 photo of a male on an operating table having undergone some sort of injury to his genitalia. ca. 1910-1930. (H 3" W 4"). 2 photos, apparently of earlier photos (?) , both H 5" W 7". One of a woman with greatly and unevenly large breasts, and the other of a woman with 3 breasts. Sizes: All are housed in plastic 3-ring binder sheets. Sizes from post card to approximately 6" x 8". Condition: as noted above, but generally in very good used condition. Condition: All are in fine used condition. Pickup can be scheduled for Monday through Friday between 9am - 3pm. Pick up appointments begin on Monday, March 13, 2023. We cannot accommodate any pickup without an appointment. Please note that all first-time buyers that wish to pick items up in person must pay with cash or bank check. Purchased items that have been paid for but not picked up or shipped from our auction facility within 30 days of the auction will be stored at a rate of $5 per day per lot. Storage fees must be paid before items are released. There are no exceptions. Items not picked up within 60 days of the auction date will be considered “abandoned” and then become the property of New England Auctions.
