"By the President of the United States of America, suffer the Ship (?) of Savannah, John Shaw, Master...To Pass with her Company...without any hindrance...". Seal intact. Full vellum sheet with scalloped top, partially removing the top of an engraving of a war ship in full sail, with another engraving of a lighthouse on an island in front of a fortified town. Very readable signature. Docketed on the back. Folds, some fading and soiling, but overall a very presentable document. Comes in a protective sleeve. H 15-3/4" W 10-1/2".
